Amy LeSage, L.Ac.
Amy has been practicing acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for more than 18 years. She is licensed by the state of California and nationally certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She holds a Master of Acupuncture and TCM from Yo San University of TCM in Los Angeles. She went back to school in 2020 to earn her Doctorate of Acupuncture and TCM (DACM) from Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego, CA. Amy combines her TCM education and years of experience with Whitfield Reaves Acupuncture Sports Medicine training to give athletes, as well as clients who are injured or in pain, the relief they need to get back to doing what they love.
Amy loves reading and learning, especially about acupuncture, physiology, and anatomy. By releasing endorphins, neurotransmitters (like dopamine and serotonin), and oxytocin, acupuncture can help the body naturally speed its recovery times and enhance performance. Add in injury- and sport-specific acupuncture points and techniques, and that’s a recipe for a serious competitive edge.
She is especially interested in helping female athletes navigate the unique imbalances that can diminish performance, such as hormones, biomechanical-related injuries, oxygen use, stress, and more. She can also treat other health issues keeping you out of the game, like depression and anxiety, migraines, allergies, and asthma.
She understands being limited by illness. As a child, Amy suffered from chronic bronchitis, which culminated in three to four debilitating sinus infections per year as an adult. Seemingly unrelated, she started training in the Lau Kune Do style of tai chi and Qi gong, where she learned about acupuncture and its rich history and healing traditions. She enrolled in school to become an acupuncturist and herbalist. While in school, she was treated consistently with acupuncture and herbs, and her sinus infections were eliminated.
Her martial arts training also instilled a deep understanding that balance of movement, conscious stillness, and doing what brings us joy are cornerstones to excellent health and higher performance in all aspects of life.
Her treatments may include any combination of acupuncture, dry needling, electrical stimulation, gua sha, cupping, herbal formulas, salves, and more. She might recommend Qi gong exercises, healing sounds, or meditation ideas. Your experience is customized for you.
Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and husband, Corey, hiking, meditating, listening to her favorite music, reading, and finding fun ways to get exercise.
